NEW LONDON, CT, Sept 10, 2008 - Mitchell College Women's Soccer team played a tremendous first half lead by freshman forward Nicole Hoxie (Winsted, CT) and Paige Ehot (West Hartford, CT) who continually pressured the Anna Marie defense with combined 6 shots on goal. While Anna Marie's offensive attacks were lead by Amand Hevy with 5 shots on goal. But at the end of 45 minutes of heat play the game was tied at 0-0.
In the second half Anna Marie forward Heather Sherry scored in the 54 minute on a cross from Moira Twigg. One minute later Anna Marie forward Alexa Hare broke free to blast a shot inside the far post past Mitchell goalie Morgan Lindsey (Sarasota, FL). Mitchell College had tremendous opportunities but could not find the back of the net the second half. Anna Marie closed out the game in the 65 minute with an unassisted goal by Jenna Bellenoit on a long kick from Anna Marie goal Karine Almeida.
Anna Marie is 3-0-2 and Mitchell is 0-2-0. Mitchell is on the road this weekend against Johnson State.
