Chapman Named to NEIBA All-New England Third Team

MEDFORD, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Jeremy Chapman was named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England Division III Third Team on Tuesday.

Chapman, the NECC Pitcher of the Year and an All-Conference First Team selection, was one of 14 pitchers honored from the region by the NEIBA. He was also one of two players to represent the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), as Daniel Webster rookie Darrik Marstaller joined him as an outfielder on the third team.

Chapman led the NECC with an amazing 1.03 ERA for his 35.0 innings pitched. In conference play the left-hander went 5-0 and hurled two shutouts, allowing a mere seven runs on 17 hits while fanning 51 batters and walking 13.

A four-time NECC Pitcher of the Week and a three-time ECAC Pitcher of the Week selection, Chapman led the Mitchell staff with a 6-0 record and currently leads all NCAA Division III pitchers in hits allowed per nine innings (4.48). He also ranks fifth in the nation in ERA (1.33) and seventh in strikeouts per nine innings (11.93).

Mitchell finished the 2010 season as co-champions of the NECC. The Mariners posted an overall record of 17-13 and went 10-5 in conference play.
