Hartenstein Named to Team of the Week

NEW LONDON, Conn. – A day after being selected as conference player of the week, Mitchell College junior Kyle Hartenstein was named to the Team of the Week on Tuesday. 

The Team of the Week is's weekly honor roll, honoring performers from across the nation at each position from the previous week. Hartenstein, a second baseman, becomes the first Mitchell player to receive the honor. 

Hartenstein led the Mariners to a 3-0 record last week that included wins over Becker College, Amherst College and Daniel Webster College. He led the Mariners in batting (.643), RBI (8) and runs scored (9) over the stretch and had multiple hits and multiple RBI in all three games. He slugged 1.214 for the week and had an on-base percentage of .706.

Hartenstein is batting .433 in 23 games this season and leads the Mariners in total hits (39), runs (32) and doubles (10) while ranking second in RBI (27). He has twice been named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week this spring (March 6, April 10).

Mitchell (17-6 overall, 6-1 NECC), currently riding a nine-game winning streak, will next play at Salve Regina University on Wednesday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. Team of the Week (Week 9)
