MEN'S SOCCER WINS HOME OPENER 5-1
NEW LONDON, CT--Mitchell College men's soccer (2-0-1) defeated Daniel Webster College (Nashua, NH) 5-1 in their home opener Wednesday afternoon in New London, CT. Mitchell scored at the 16:38 mark on a cross from Chris McKinnel (SR, Branford, CT) in tight traffic to TJ Smith (SR, Wallkill, NY). Niko Papathanasiou (JR, Quaker Hill, CT) went on a run with a goal at 33:32 off a give and go from teammate Joshua DaSilveira (SO, Milford, NH) and again unassisted off the reset at 33:32 into the game.
Scoring for the Pequots in the second period were Joshua Griffo (SO, Higganum, CT) off a throw in from teammate Adam Deltgen (SO, Norwich, CT) at 51:09. Papathanasiou assisted Alex Deltgen (FR, Norwich, CT) to a goal at 57:35 to complete Mitchell's scoring for the evening. Scoring the lone goal for the Eagles was Ben Sisco (So, Quabbin, MA) 72:10 into the game.
Mitchell remains undefeated after their first 3 games with a record of 2-0-1. The Pequots face off with Becker College on Saturday, September 9th in a 1:00 PM game at Mitchell College.
