Carmona Named NECC Player of the Week for the Third Time

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Mitchell College freshman Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for the third time this season.  Carmona helped the Mariners to a 3-0 week, including a two 9-0 sweeps of NECC opponents Wheelock and 7-2 against Lesley.  For the week, Carmona defeated Wheelock's Wilson Chang twice at the #1 spot 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1 and then finished the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over the Lynx' David Newton 6-1, 6-0. Partnered with Dan Dworetsky in doubles action, they won 8-1, 8-3 and 8-3 respectively for their three matches.

The Mariners are 9-0 overall and 7-0 in NECC play, and they claimed the regular season NECC title by finishing conference play undefeated.  The 2009 NECC Men's Tennis tournament begins on Saturday, May 2, 2009, and it is being hosted by Newbury College.
