FOUR MITCHELL COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO WINTER/SPRING NECC ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Four Mitchell College student-athletes have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference for the winter/spring 2009 semester, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy.  Three Mitchell softball players, Lindsey Donelin, Kelly Reynolds, and Liz Roy as well as one men's basketball player, Mike DePaolo, were honored. 

Donelin, an outfielder, was named NECC All-Conference First Team, as she hit .364 this season and scored 31 runs and recorded 24 stolen bases.  Designated player, Roy,  was named NECC All-Conference Second Team for her efforts this past season, as she batted .333 and scored 27 runs.  Reynolds played third base for the Mariners and had 14 hits and drove in eight RBI.  DePaolo, a guard, averaged 12.0 points this season and led the team with 47 made three-pointers and also dished out 30 assists. 

The NECC began its inaugural year this fall with nine full-time members including Bay Path College (Longmeadow, Mass.), Becker College (Leicester, Mass.), Daniel Webster College (Nashua, N.H.), Elms College (Chicopee, Mass.), Lesley University (Cambridge, Mass.), Mitchell College (New London, Conn.), Newbury College (Brookline, Mass.), Southern Vermont College (Bennington, Vt.) and Wheelock College (Boston, Mass.).

To be eligible for the NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a junior or higher in class standings. Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's tennis and men's volleyball were eligible for the winter/spring NECC Academic All-Conference.
