Softball Continues NECC Winning Streak, Defeats Newbury
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Mitchell College softball team continued its winning ways in NECC play with two victories today against Newbury, in a double-header today in Chestnut Hill, MA.
In game one, freshman pitcher Kristina Torres (Groton, Conn.) threw a complete game two-hitter, striking out 16 and walking only one. Stacey Suplicki (New London, Conn.) went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in two of the three runs in the game.
Game two saw an increased offensive effort as Liz Roy (Jewett City, Conn.) and Sara Krolikowksi (Bristol, Conn.) were hot at the plate and combined for four hits and four RBI's. Roy also scored three runs, and Krolikowski again provided timely hitting with a two-run homerun. Marissa Thomas (New London, Conn.) picked up the win in five innings, as she scattered six hits and struck out three.
Mitchell is back in action on Monday, March 30th when they host Coast Guard Academy at 3:00 pm.
