Jan 13, 2008 IGLESIAS SCORES 26 IN 7 POINT LOSS TO GREEN MOUNTIAN IGLESIAS SCORES 26 IN 7 POINT LOSS TO GREEN
MOUNTIAN
NEW LONDON, CT.- Despite a 26 point showing
from sophomore guard Jennifer Iglesias (Waterbury,
CT) and a double-double (16 points, 16 rebounds) from junior center
Julie Graham (Waterbury, CT) the Pequots suffered
a seven point defeat to Association of Division III Independents
(AD3I) foe Green Mountain College. The win takes the Eagles
record to 9-4 overall and 4-0 against AD3I opponents.
Mitchell drops to 1-12 overall and 0-1 in the AD3I.
The Eagles were led with a double - double from sophomore
Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) with 20 points
and 18 rebounds. Junior Brittany Holden
(Schenectady, NY) also scored 20 and grabbed five steals.
Freshman Melanie Miela (Lebanon, CT) continued
her offensive streak scoring 18 points. Miela hit three from behind
the arc for the Pequots.
This is the first of two meetings for the Eagles and the
Pequots. Mitchell will attempt to avenge their loss at Green
Mountain (Poultney, VT) on Feburary 10th. Tip-off
is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
Mitchell will head to Salve Regina University on January
17th. The women will play the first game of a
double header with the men, game time is 5:30 PM. Green
Mountain will head Bay Path on the 17th for a 8:00 PM
game.
