Destiney Harris Named NECC Rookie of the Week

 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Mitchell College freshman center Destiney Harris (Bristol, Conn.) was tabbed as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week.  She was an inside force, registering 15 rebounds in the Mariners' lone win on the week 86-49 over the Blue Jays of St. Joseph (Conn.).  Harris garnered 17 points, 15 boards, one assist and one steal for the week.

On the season, Harris has started in all six games and is averaging 9.3 points per game, 11.0 rebounds per game, and has 11 steals.  She is shooting 12-of-14 from the free throw line and has connected on 21 of 55 field goals.

Harris is a Sport Management major at Mitchell and attended Bristol Eastern High School.  The Mariners are currently 1-5 and play Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in their home-opener on December 10, 2008 at 6:00 pm.
