Weston, Mass. – Regis College had four players score in double-figures as they defeated Mitchell College on Tuesday evening in a non-conference game. Mitchell was led by freshman guard Bianca Young (Bridgeport, Conn.) who scored 15 points. Fellow first-year player Destiney Harris (Bristol, Conn.) scored seven points and added 14 rebounds. Junior point guard Jen Iglesias (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 13 points and had 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Pride jumped out to a 15-0 lead early in the game and never looked back. Regis shot a scorching 48.3% from the field and held Mitchell to 31.1%. Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) scored 14 of her team-high 16 points from the free throw line, as she was a perfect 14-14. Sarah McNult (Hampstead, NH) chipped in with 15 points, and Kim Mariotti (Springfield, Mass.) just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Mitchell will look to get their first victory of the season at the St Joseph College Blue Jay Invitational tournament this coming weekend. They face Dominican University (Ill.) in the opening round on Friday, November 21, 2008.
