Elms Too Much for Mitchell Women
NEW LONDON, CONN. - Elms College placed nine different players in the scoring column, as they cruised to a 77-47 victory over Mitchell College at the Yarnall Athletic Center on Thursday evening. Amanda Brogna (Oxford, Mass.) led the Blazers with 21 points and 10 rebounds. For the Mariners, Jen Iglesias (Waterbury, Conn.) netted 23 points and dished out five assists.
The Mariners struggled shooting the ball throughout the game, and as a team shot 22.1% from the floor and 52.6% from the free throw line. Freshman center Destiney Harris (Bristol, Conn.) chipped in with nine points and 10 boards. The Blazers shot a hot 49.1% from the floor and out-rebounded the host team by a 48-to-40 margin.
Erin Hutchinson (Groton, Mass.) and Carolyn Talmadge (Wilbraham, Mass.) each scored 15 points in the victory for Elms.
Mitchell drops to 6-9 overall and 5-2 in the NECC, and they are on the road on Saturday, January 31st at Newbury College. Elms improves to 8-9 overall and 6-2 in the NECC.
