Cerruto Tabbed NECC Player of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Mitchell College freshman Kaylee Cerruto was
named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week
for women's basketball, as announced by the conference on Monday
morning.
Cerruto led the Mariners in scoring last week, averaging 18.0
points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She helped Mitchell to its first
win of the season at Southern Vermont College on December 12,
finishing with 17 points and a career-high eight assists in the
72-57 victory. Against CCNY on December 8, Cerruto netted a
career-high 19 points to lead the Mariners in a 73-57 defeat. Over
the two games she shot 57 percent (13-for-23) from the field and 54
percent (8-for-15) from behind the arc.
Cerruto, a guard, is averaging 24.8 minutes per game and has played
in every game while making three starts. She has scored in double
figures in her last three games and ranks fourth on the team in
scoring (9.7 ppg) on the season. She currently leads the NECC in
three-point shooting percentage (.545) and ranks second in total
three-point field goals (12).
Mitchell (1-5 overall, 1-0 NECC) will take an extended break during
the winter intermission. The Mariners return to action at Wheelock
