WBB's Cerruto Nabs NECC ROW Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Mitchell College freshman Kaylee Cerruto was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for women's basketball, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Cerruto scored 12 points and added three steals and two assists in a 57-47 victory at Wheelock College on Saturday. She came off the bench to shoot 4-of-6 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from both long range and the foul line. The win kept Mitchell undefeated in conference play at 2-0 on the season.

The Rookie of the Week honor is the first for Cerruto this season. Earlier this year she nabbed Player of the Week accolades on December 14.

Cerruto, a guard, is averaging 24.6 minutes per game and has played in every game while making three starts. She has scored in double figures in her last four games and ranks second among all freshmen in the conference in scoring (10.0 ppg). She currently leads the NECC in three-point shooting percentage (.583) and ranks third in total three-point field goals (14).

Mitchell (2-5 overall, 2-0 NECC) will next host Lesley University on Tuesday, January 12 at 5:30 p.m.
