Oct 14, 2006 WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS 1-0 LOSS TO EASTERN NAZARENE IN 102:37 NEW LONDON, CT--Mitchell College Women's Soccer dropped their
10th game of the year in a hard fought, double overtime battle with
the Crusaders from Eastern Nazerene College. Eastern
Nazerene, a member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC),
leaves New London with their first win of the season (1-13).
The 0-1 loss leaves the Pequots at 5-10-0.
The Crusaders' lone goal came 2:37 into double overtime from
captain Geraidine Dorsett (Jr., Nassau, Bahamas). Dorsett
split the defense and found the lower right corner of the net past
the Peqout goalie. Goalkeeper Melaina Genovese (Jr., Hingham,
MA) ended the game with 10 great saves on the day.
The Pequots were led by the offensive efforts of sophomore
midfielder Kailynn Orr (Westerly, RI, Early
Childhood Ed.). Orr finished with four shots on goal
for the game. Mitchell finished the game with 14 shots to the
Crusaders' 2. Many near misses kept the Peqouts from wrapping
up a win. Keeper Molly
Gill (Fr., Deep River, CT, Early Childhood Ed.) ended
with one save for the game.
Mitchell will return to the field on Monday when they host St.
Joseph College of Connecticut for a 4:00 kickoff. Eastern
Nazarene will finish out the remainder of their regular season at
home in Quincy, MA with their next game on Tuesday hosting CCC
rival University of New England at 1:00 PM.
