Mitchell loses 0-4 to Blue Jays of Saint Joseph College
Mitchell College Women's Soccer lost their 11th game of the season on Monday to the Blue Jays of Saint Joseph College (CT). Saint Joseph's, a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) leaves Mitchell at 8-4-2 so far this season. The Peqouts are now at 5-11-0.
After a scoreless first period, St. Joseph dominated the second half. The first Blue Jay to find the net was midfielder Amanda Coutu (Fr., Lebanon, CT) unassisted at 57:56 in the game. Following Coutu's lead was teammate Laura Conover (Jr., Manchester, CT) off a corner kick from teammate Sofia Karistinos (Sr., Naugatuck, CT) when the clock hit 60:21. Karistinos found the net on her own for the third point of the game when she picked up a loose ball in the box at 73:19. Finishing up the night was midfielder Emily Frawley (Sr., Patchogue, NY) off an assist from Karistinos.
Finishing her first full game of the season in the box for the Peqouts was sophomore keeper Jenna Wilder (Waterbury, VT). Wilder finished the game with 13 saves. In the net for the Blue Jays was Kristi Autote (So., Woonsocket, RI).
Mitchell College will play again on Saturday when they host Saint Joseph's of Vermont for a 2:00 PM kick-off. The Mitchell Men's Soccer team will host Green Mountain College at Noon for the double header. Saint Joseph will return home to host GNAC rival Johnson & Wales on Wednesday for a 4:00 PM game.
