Becker Tops NECC Women's Tennis Preseason Poll   

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Becker College has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC's head women's tennis coaches.

This is the inaugural year for the New England Collegiate Conference. Four of the nine NECC members sponsor women's tennis.


The Becker Hawks (9-4, 2-1 NAC) received two of the four first-place votes in the 2008 NECC preseason poll. The Hawks are led by head coach David Bostick. Senior Allison Flynn (7-4 singles, 7-2 doubles) will continue at the #1 singles position anchoring the Hawks.

Bay Path College received two first-place votes with 13 points to claim the second spot. Mitchell College was third with 7 points while Newbury College rounded out the field in fourth-place spot with 6 points.

Teams received four points for every first place vote received, three points for second place votes, two points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
