NECC Women's Tennis Championship Brackets Announced

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The brackets for the 2009 NECC Women's Tennis Championship were released on Friday afternoon, and Mitchell College qualified six players for this weekend's flighted championship.

Freshman Julie Felts will be representing the Mariners at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. She will be the fourth seed in singles play and will take on top-seeded Julia Bendzin from Bay Path College. She will also team with classmate Erica Fazio to face Bay Path's Bendzin and Kara Fox in doubles action.

Fazio will also see action in singles play at the No.2 flight. She will take on top-seeded Laura Mimms from Becker College.

Making the cut at the No. 4 flight for the Mariners was junior Ilana Papernik, who will take on top-seeded Carolina Ynguanzo from Bay Path College. Junior Kelly Walsh earned the third seed in the No. 6 flight and will take on Bay Path's Fox.

Senior Miah Manning and freshman Carly Crozer round out the final Mitchell competitors at the championship. The duo qualified at the No. 2 doubles flight and will take on Mimms and Megan Nessen from Becker College.

The 2009 NECC Women's Tennis Championship will be held on October 17-18 at the Enfield Tennis Club in Enfield, Conn. Saturday's matches begin at 3 p.m. while Sunday's matches begin at 10 a.m.

Turn RIGHT onto MA-192 / LAUREL ST. Continue to follow MA-192. for 2.8 miles.

Turn LEFT onto BACON RD. and go 0.7 miles.


From the East Longmeadow rotary:

Take MA-220 S / SHAKER RD. for 3.5 miles.

Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto CT-220 / SHAKER RD. for 0.8 miles.
