SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Mitchell College women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision at Bay Path University on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference play.
Mitchell trailed 2-1 after doubles play, with the No. 2 pairing of Dominique Lacroix and Veyda McVey providing the lone point with an 8-5 win. The Mariners and Wildcats then split the six singles matches to decide the match.
Samantha Ryan won at No. 1 singles by a 6-0, 6-3 final. McVey and Brittany Fuller also contributed singles wins at the No. 3 and 6 spots, respectively.
Mitchell (3-8 overall, 3-6 NECC) will wrap up the regular season at home against Lesley University on Monday, October 12 at 11 a.m. The winner of the match will qualify for the 2015 NECC Women's Tennis Championship.
