Men’s Golf Hosts Western Connecticut & Dean to Open Season
GROTON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's golf team opened its season at the Mitchell Invitational I on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Western Connecticut State University and Dean College at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Sophomore Nathan Mahoney (Stonington, Conn.) paced the Mariners with a 17-over-par round of 88, good for a ninth place tie in the field of 15 golfers. Senior Jacob Quiles (Wallkill, N.Y.) finished one stroke back at 89. Sophomore Luke Pavia (Bolton, Mass.) and senior Walker Baillargeon (Norwich, Conn.) carded identical rounds of 99, and sophomore Tommy Daly (Wethersfield, Conn.) rounded out the lineup with a 132.
Western Connecticut captured the team title with a score of 328, while Matt Brangiforte of Dean claimed medalist honors with a seven-over-par 78.
The Mariners will return to action at Shennecossett on Wednesday, September 17, when they host the Mitchell Invitational II.
