Terni Jr. Repeats as GNAC Player of the Week
NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College junior Chas Terni Jr. has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for baseball for the second consecutive week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The right fielder delivered a dominant week at the plate, batting .571 (8-for-14) with seven runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, and six RBI, while posting an elite .684 on-base percentage and a 1.143 slugging percentage.
He recorded three multi-hit games, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance with a home run and two RBI in a one-run game against Norwich. Terni Jr. also opened the week with a 2-for-3 outing with a double, home run, and two RBI in a 5–0 win over Albertus Magnus, becoming the all-time career leader in home runs in Mitchell's Division III era in the process.
Terni Jr. consistently produced throughout the week, reaching base 13 times in 19 plate appearances while tallying four extra-base hits. He also scored multiple runs twice, including a three-run performance in a 19–5 win over Norwich.
Entering the new week, Terni Jr. leads the GNAC in home runs (7), RBI (30), and slugging percentage (.718), while ranking third in extra-base hits (13) and seventh in batting average (.388).
The Mariners (17-7, 10-2 GNAC) return to the diamond on Thursday, April 9, with a non-conference road game at Salve Regina University.
