Beaudet Named GNAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Jaxyn Beaudet (Groton, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
The first-year big man played a key role in the Mariners' 2-0 week, averaging 9.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 66.7% from the field and a perfect 100% from the free-throw line.
Beaudet opened the week with a highly efficient performance in a 74-73 victory over Rivier, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting while adding nine rebounds and three blocks. He followed that effort with another strong showing in an 86-66 win over Johnson & Wales, contributing six points, 11 rebounds and one block.
For the week, Beaudet totaled 20 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, and four blocks.
Riding a season-high two-game winning streak, the Mariners (4-6, 0-0 GNAC) will close out the semester with a pair of games in Florida on December 18 and 19, facing Warner University and Webber International University, respectively, before breaking for the holiday.
