2025 Softball Schedule Released
NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Mitchell College softball team and first-year head coach Kaitlin Thibodeau-Corey recently released their schedule for the upcoming 2025 season.
The Mariners posted an overall record of 16-20 during the spring of 2024, their inaugural season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), which included a 12-7 record in conference play. Those results earned Mitchell the number two seed in the GNAC South Division and berth in the GNAC Softball Tournament, however their season was cut short due to losses against Johnson & Wales University and New England College.
A 37-game regular season that features 12 home games, as well as a trip to South Carolina for spring break, is officially slated to get underway on Sunday, March 9, when the Mariners play games against New Jersey City University and Kenyon College at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in South Carolina. The Mariners will square off against the Gothic Knights at 1:00 pm, followed by a 3:00 pm tilt against the Owls. The team will play six more games down south before returning to New London for their home opening doubleheader against Vermont State University Lyndon on Wednesday, March 19.
Non-conference road matchups against Nichols College and Salem State University follow, before the Mariners dive into GNAC play when they host Saint Joseph's College (ME) on Saturday, March 29. Road games at Elms College and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) close out March and kick off April, leading into a weekend of GNAC action at home, as Mitchell hosts Johnson & Wales University on Saturday, April 5, then Lasell University the next day. Next, the team will pause league play to battle the crosstown rival Coast Guard Academy Bears, with three conference foes next up on the schedule; Albertus Magnus College at home (4/12), Rivier University on the road (4/13), and Regis College back on the Connecticut coast (4/16).
Mitchell will then close out their season with a single game at Trinity College (4/21), two games at Bridgewater State University (4/23), and a season ending conference clash at Dean College on Sunday, April 27.
The GNAC Softball Tournament will get begin on Thursday, May 1, in a pod play double-elimination format, with a champion set to be crowned on Saturday, May 10.
