DELTGEN PITCHES A SHUTOUT AGAINST CCNY
NEW LONDON, CT- Mitchell College (6-5) earned their second victory in their three game series with the City College of New York (4-5), 8-0 Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field. Mitchell split their two games with CCNY on Saturday (8-9, 15-12).
Mitchell was led by the shutout performance from sophomore southpaw Adam Deltgen (St. Bernard HS/Norwich, CT) who scattered seven hits over nine and struck out three. He worked out of jams in the second and seventh and a bases loaded situation in the ninth to keep the shutout intact.
Mitchell's offense was sparked by a four run seventh which knocked CCNY starting pitcher Roberto Fernandez out of the game. Leading the way was junior third basemen Shawn Guiney (New London HS/New London,CT) who went 2 for 4 and knocked in two runs with a double in the seventh. Freshman Andrew Langlias (Ledyard HS/Ledyard,CT) also drove in two with a pair of doubles.
Mitchell will be back on the diamond Wednesday April 4th at home against Mount Saint Vincent of New York.
