Terni Jr. Named GNAC Baseball Player of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Chas Terni Jr. (Montville, Conn.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
The right fielder turned in a huge week for the Mariners, slashing .471/.500/1.059, with three home runs, 13 RBI, and four runs scored. Terni Jr. added a double, two walks, and three stolen bases, helping guide the Mariners to a 4-1 record, including a 3-1 mark in conference play.
Terni Jr. had multiple hits in three games, highlighted by a huge performance in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader at Albertus Magnus College, where he went 3-4 with three homers, five RBI, and three runs scored. Overall, in the doubleheader against the Falcons, Terni Jr. went 5-8 with three home runs, nine RBI, and three runs scored. He also had three hits and drove in three runs in a GNAC win over Colby-Sawyer College.
The Montville, Connecticut, native enters the new week leading the conference with seven home runs and is tied for fifth in runs batted in (20).
The Mariners (11-13, 4-1 GNAC) return to play on Tuesday, April 1, when they host Lasell University in a conference showdown slated to begin at 3:30 pm.
