Cavanaugh Repeats as NECC Rookie of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the second straight week, Mitchell College freshman Graham Cavanaugh was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's tennis, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.
Cavanaugh went 2-1 in both singles and doubles play last week. With illness affecting the Mitchell lineup, the rookie played singles matches at the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots. Against Regis College he picked up a point at No. 3 singles by defeating Andy White (2-6, 6-3, 10-6). He also grabbed two points in a 5-4 loss to Lesley University, winning at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. Cavanaugh's only loss came to Becker College's Troy Scott (7-5, 6-2) at No. 1 singles, though he did earn a point in the match at No. 1 doubles.
Mitchell (2-4 overall, 1-3 NECC) will next host Newbury College on Tuesday, April 9 at 3 p.m.
