Newbury Tops Women's Tennis 7-2
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Newbury College women's tennis team
defeated Mitchell College, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in a NECC
match-up.
Mitchell took one of three doubles points to start the match.

Flanagan and senior Kelly
Walsh defeated Kristen Conners and Stephanie Valentine,
8-2, in first doubles. It marked the second consecutive win for the
Mariners' duo.
In the singles competition, Conners and Valentine rebounded for
victories. After battling for the 7-5 win in each of their first
sets, Conners swept the second set, 6-0, to defeat Walsh in second
singles while Valentine defeated junior Amanda
Resnick, 6-3, in third singles.
Flanagan had the lone singles win for the Mariners, defeating
Jennifer Swafford, 6-1, 6-0, in first singles. Flanagan remained
undefeated in conference play and improved her singles record to
6-1 on the season.
Newbury improved to 3-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference play
while Mitchell fell to 0-7 and 0-4 in the NECC.
Mitchell returns to action at home against Saint Joseph College on
Monday, September 27 at 4 p.m.
