Three Mariners Qualify for NECC Women's Tennis Championship
ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Three members of the Mitchell College
women's tennis team have qualified to participate in this weekend's
New England Collegiate Conference Championship, which will be
held on October 16-17 at the Enfield Tennis Club.
The 2010 NECC Women's Tennis Championship will be an individual
flighted tournament that is based upon student-athletes' singles
and doubles conference records. Players are seeded as individual
players and seeds are not based on a team's finish.
Representing the Mariners will be freshman Mackenzie
Flanagan, senior Kelly Walsh and
sophomore Caitlin Brown.
Flanagan will be the top seed in the No. 1 flight by virtue of her
6-2 conference record. Brown also qualified for the singles
competition and will be the fourth seed in the No. 6 flight. The
duo of Flanagan and Walsh will compete in the No. 1 doubles
flight as the third seed.
The semifinals will be held on Saturday at 4:45 for all doubles
matches while singles play begins at 6 p.m. The championship will
conclude on Sunday with the finals brackets. Trophies will be
awarded to all six singles flights' and all three doubles flights'
winners.
