Women's Soccer to Face Wheaton in NCAA First Round

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The bracket for the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship was unveiled on Monday morning, and Mitchell College will face Wheaton College (Mass.) in the first round on the campus of Eastern Connecticut State University.
First round play will begin on Saturday, November 13 at noon. Eastern Connecticut State will take on Worcester State University in the day's first game. Mitchell and Wheaton will kick off 30 minutes following the completion of the first contest. The winner of each match moves on to the second round and will face off on Sunday.
Mitchell (10-7-1 overall) will be making its first-ever NCAA appearance. The Mariners earned an automatic bid by winning the NECC Championship over the weekend by a 2-1 final over top-seeded Lesley University.
Wheaton (16-4-2 overall) is making its 11th straight NCAA appearance. Selected as an at-large team after advancing to a conference tournament semifinal for the 16th consecutive season, the Lyons finished 6-3-0 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Wheaton, which will meet Mitchell for the first time in program history, is ranked in a tie for sixth in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
