Mitchell Soccer Announces Summer Camp
The Mitchell College men's and women's soccer programs are delighted to announce that their annual youth summer camp will be making its eagerly awaited return this summer.
"Due to COVID-19, we've missed the opportunity to connect our college athletes with the local youth soccer community," said head women's coach Marc Davis. "We've missed helping so many young players grow not only their skills, but their love of the game. With our improved facilities on campus, we know we can provide an even better soccer experience for them."
Camp will be held July 26-29 from 9 a.m. to noon on the college's brand new artificial turf field. Camp is open for boys and girls ages 7-14 and costs $120. Additionally, players and their families can explore Mitchell's beautiful beach, as well as stop at historic Michael's Dairy for discounted ice cream throughout the entire camp week. The main objectives of camp are to create an environment that players enjoy and to help players improve. Camp shows players how to play 'The Mariner Way', covering key themes of: high-energy pressing to rhythmic possession to incisive penetration, all with an emphasis on speed of transition.
"The struggle you're in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow," said head men's coach Damian Houlden. "Our camps and clinics are designed to challenge you in every aspect of the game, and beyond. We help develop your potential by taking you out of your comfort zone."
