Landry Nabs Second NECC Rookie Selection This Season
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Gemma Landry was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's soccer, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Landry earned the distinction for the second time this season (Sept. 7). The first-year goalkeeper recorded 26 saves and sported a .929 save percentage last week as the Mariners played a pair of non-conference matches.
Landry began the week with 15 stops in a scoreless draw against Dean College, notching her first career shutout in the process. She then made 11 stops against 33 shots in a 2-0 loss to Eastern Connecticut State University.
In five starts this season, Landry has amassed 68 saves while allowing 10 goals (1.90 GAA). She's recorded double-digit saves in all five contests, including a season-high 18 in her collegiate debut against Albertus Magnus.
Mitchell (2-3-1 overall) will next host Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday, September 21 at 4 p.m.
