NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Connecticut College women's volleyball team opened its season with a 3-0 victory against Mitchell College at Luce Field House on Tuesday night.
The set scores were 25-5, 25-13 and 25-12 in favor of the hosts.
Rookie outside hitter Jenny Kellogg buried eight kills to go with three digs to pave the way to the win. Caroline Martin had four kills, three aces and two digs while setter Katia Elisman dished out 28 assists to go along with four digs for the winning side.
The Mariners (1-2 overall) received six kills from senior middle blocker Amanda Garcia. Senior setter Nicole Caminiti had seven assists and four digs in the match while classmate Kaisea Caramante posted 10 digs to lead the Mariners defensively.
Mitchell resumes play on Tuesday, September 15 with a 7:00 p.m. match at UMass-Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, Mass.
