Lent Earns GNAC Libero of the Week Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Julia Lent (Miller Place, N.Y.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Libero of the Week for the sport of women's volleyball, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Lent tallied 30 digs across two matches for the Mariners on the week, averaging 4.29 digs per set. She began her junior season with 12 digs (4.00 digs per set) in a straight set victory over SUNY Maritime in the opening contest of a Saturday non-conference tri-match. Lent then followed that up with 18 digs (4.50 digs per set) in a 3-1 loss to SUNY Delhi. She added three assists and one service ace, as Mitchell finished the week with a 1-1 record.
Through the first week of the season in which the Mariners played two matches, Lent ranks sixth in the GNAC with 30 digs and leads the conference with a 4.29 digs per set average.
Additionally, freshman Genna Hyde (Cypress, TX) was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. Hyde burst on the scene for the Mitchell volleyball team over the weekend, recording 28 kills across two matches during a non-conference tri-match with SUNY Maritime and SUNY Delhi. Hyde added 14 total digs, four service aces, two assists, and two blocks, while averaging 4.00 kills per set and 2.00 digs per set.
The Mariners (1-1, 0-0 GNAC) are slated to host Rhode Island College on Thursday, September 5, at 7:00 pm in their home opener at the Yarnall Athletic Center.
