Baseball's Perillo, Pesino Earn Weekly NECC Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College
baseball team earned weekly conference honors on Monday, as
announced by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC).
Junior infielder Jeff Perillo was named NECC Player of the Week
while freshman catcher Eric
Pesino was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped
Mitchell to a split against Manhattanville College last week as the
Mariners wrapped up their spring trip in Florida.
Perillo batted .625 with five RBI and four runs scored in the
doubleheader. In the first game he went 3-for-4 with a double and
homer and drove in three runs. He followed with a 2-for-4 effort in
the second game, finishing with a double and triple and two RBI.
Perillo slugged 1.500 for the week and reached base safely in five
of eight plate appearances.
Pesino saw action in only the second game against the Valiants but
came up big in the 13-12 victory. He went 1-for-3 at the plate and
drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a single up the middle.
Pesino batted and slugged .333 for the week and had a .500 on-base
percentage.
Mitchell (2-5 overall) will next play its home opener on Saturday,
March 27 against Lyndon State College. The first game of the
scheduled doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m.
