Baseball's Perillo Earns ECAC Honors
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Mitchell College junior infielder Jeff
Perillo was named ECAC Division III New England Co-Player of
the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the Eastern
College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on Tuesday afternoon.
Perillo, who shares the honor with WPI’s Jameson Kokolis,
earns ECAC accolades for the first time in his career. The award
follows a week in which he helped Mitchell to a split against
Manhattanville College as the Mariners wrapped up their spring trip
in Florida.
Perillo batted .625 with five RBI and four runs scored in the
doubleheader. In the first game he went 3-for-4 with a double and
homer and drove in three runs. He followed with a 2-for-4 effort in
the second game, finishing with a double and triple and two RBI.
Perillo slugged 1.500 for the week and reached base safely in five
of eight plate appearances.
Perillo is batting .375 over the first seven games of the season
and leads the Mariners in hits (9), doubles (3), triples (1),
homers (1) and slugging percentage (.708). In addition to the ECAC
honors, he was also selected as the New England Collegiate
Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Mitchell (2-5 overall) will next play its home opener on Saturday,
March 27 against Lyndon State College. The first game of the
scheduled doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m.
