Bio

Coach Steve Jewett returns for his second season as head coach of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team in 2010.

Jewett first developed his lacrosse game in Ithaca NY, playing at Ithaca high school under coach Frank Welch. He continued to develop his game at the midfield while attending St. Lawrence University. Under the direction of Coach Don Leet, the Saints qualified in both 1984 and 1987 for the NCAA tournament losing twice in the quarterfinals. Jewett received All League honors at midfield in 1987 and was recognized as one of  SLUs all time top middies.

Coach Jewett then began coaching at the secondary level in Western New England.  His tenure at Hamden Hall Country Day School (WNESSLA) lasted 18 years. During this time, he posted a record with over 125 wins and was awarded the US Lacrosse Fairchester League Coach of the Year twice. Many of his charges continued playing at DI, DII, DIII ,MCLA and MLL. Jewett has had great success instilling the love of the game in his players and owes a winning record to his emphasis on team play. "This is a great game that, with the right combination of players, connecting as a team, can result in a win on any given day."

Jewett plans to bring the same philosophy to Mitchell College. His experiences in education and business compliment his coaching, to present his players with a fair and consistent style of management. "Hard work and determination will be two critical factors in meeting our goals for 2009 and beyond. Any players looking to get involved and play a direct role in a fast, developing program should really consider Mitchell."
