Walk – Off Grandslam By Donelin Wins Game Pequots In Eighth Inning, 8-4
NEW LONDON, CT -- Mitchell College hosted an electrifying game with Albertus Magnus College on Monday, April 14 on the Alumni Softball Field at the Yarnall Athletic Center. The two teams matched each other run for run in regulation with eight innings of play before Mitchell took the win 8-4. This brings Mitchell to 9-13 and drops Albertus Magnus to 2-17.
Mitchell College had an exciting game with eight hits and eight runs. Junior left fielder Lindsey Donelin (Niantic, CT) was three for five at the plate with one home run, four RBI's, two stolen bases and three runs. Junior shortstop Liz Roy (Jewett City, CT) batted two for three with four RBI's and one stolen base. Senior Catie Aleman (East Haddam,CT) pitched all eight innings with four strikeouts, seven walks and gave up four runs on nine hits.
Albertus Magnus played a tough game with nine hits and four runs. Senior pitcher Meredith Berry (Meriden, CT) was good for two runs and batted two for three at the plate. Sophomore infielder Jessica Neubig (North Haven, CT) was two for three with one run and one RBI. Senior left fielder Elizabeth Webster (Deephaven, MN) batted two for three at the plate with one RBI. Berry pitched all seven innings giving up eight runs on eight hits, striking out eight and walking four.
Mitchell College will travel to Johnson and Wales for their next contest on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 for a 3:30 p.m. start. Albertus Magnus College will travel to Simmons College for a double header on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 starting at 3:30.
