Mitchell Women Fall to Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, CONN. - The Mitchell women fell to Connecticut College on Tuesday evening, 77-73, in a non-conference game played at Mitchell.  The Mariners were led by freshman post player Destiney Harris (Bristol, Conn.) who had a game-high 24 points.  With the loss, Mitchell falls to 4-7 overall and 3-0 in the NECC.

Jen Iglesias (Waterbury, Conn.) chipped in 16 points, while Allison Peck (Colchester, Conn.) netted 12 points.  Freshman guard Bianca Young (Bridgeport, Conn.) chipped in with 10 points and five boards.  Harris had 15 rebounds to go along with her 24 points, and she shot 10-for-13 from the free throw line.

The Camels were led by freshman guard Jennifer Shinall (Redding Ridge, Conn.) who scored 19 points while dishing out three assists and grabbing four steals.  Conn College also got 16 points apiece from Emily Cummings (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Jacqueline Shinall (Redding Ridge, Conn.)

The game was close throughout as it was tied at 39 at the half.  The Camels stretched their lead to as much as seven in the second half, but the Mariners did not back down.  Harris cut the lead to one point with eight minutes remaining on a fast break lay-up, but that was as close as the home team would get.

Mitchell is back in action on Thursday, January 22nd when they travel across town to Bay Path College.
