Lombardo Earns NECC Rookie Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Maariyah Lombardo was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's soccer, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.
Lombardo helped the Mariners to a 2-0 week with victories against Eastern Nazarene College and Southern Vermont College. The rookie came off the bench to score her first career goal against ENC to open the scoring in the 58th en route to a 2-1 victory. She also scored a goal in Mitchell's conference opener against SVC in a 5-0 win.
Lombardo has played in all four games this season and ranks second on the team in scoring with four points. The Mariners sport an overall record of 3-1-0 and are 1-0-0 in NECC play.
Mitchell returns to action at home against UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, September 28 at 3:30 p.m.
