Lombardo Repeats as NECC ROW for Women's Soccer
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, Mitchell College freshman Maariyah Lombardo was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's soccer, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.
Lombardo cracked the starting lineup last week as Mitchell split matches with UMass Dartmouth (L, 2-3) and Regis (W, 2-1). The rookie forward scored goals in each game, including the game winner with only 15 seconds remaining in double overtime against the Pride to lift the Mitchell to a crucial conference victory.
Lombardo has scored a goal in her last four games and is tied for the team lead with four goals for eight points on the season. She has played in every game and has helped the Mariners post an overall record of 4-2-0 and 2-0-0 in NECC play.
Mitchell will next play at Elms College on Tuesday, October 4 at 7 p.m.
