Apr 25, 2007 LACROSSE WINS FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON WITH 15-12 VICTORY NEW LONDON, CT- Mitchell College claimed their first victory of
the season in a hard fought and soggy game with Briarcliffe College
Wednesday afternoon, 15-12.
The win was a fantastic send-off for exiting seniors Pat Hutton (Southington HS/Southington,
CT) and Mike
Roberts (Portland, CT) both playing in their final
games of their college careers. Hutton, normally a goalie,
played offense and racked up seven assists to go with a goal.
Though Mitchell trailed for the entire first half (5-3 after
one, 8-7 at half), they came out strong in the third quarter taking
the lead with a five goal outburst. They would not relinquish
that lead in the fourth quarter as they would outscore Briarcliffe
3-2 to bring home the win.
Sophomore attacker Zach
Ledvina (New Bedford HS/New Bedford, MA) supplied the
Pequots with six goals and two assists. Freshman attackers
John Kearney (Wellesley HS/Wellesley, NY)
and Paul Pettini (St. Bernard HS/Mystic, CT)
had four and three goals respectively. Junior midfielder
Adam Mavromatis (Livingston HS/Livingston,
NJ) scored a goal to round out the scoring for Mitchell.
