Men’s Tennis Finishes NECC Regular Season Undefeated With Win Over Becker
NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's tennis team finished New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play today undefeated (8-0), as they defeated Becker College at home this afternoon 7-1. NECC Player of the Week, Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) brought his season record to 10-0 in singles play and 10-0 in doubles play with two wins today. Out of 72 total NECC matches, Mitchell won 69 of them en route to claiming the NECC regular season title.
Tyler Engleberg (Niantic, Conn.), Adam Samuels (New Rochelle, N.Y.), and Chris White (Marshfield, Mass.) all had singles wins today against the Becker Hawks. Carmona teamed with Dan Dworetsky (Glastonbury, Conn.) for the #1 doubles win, as Engleberg and Samuel Mahar (Hoosick, N.Y.) earned the #2 doubles win. White and Samuels rounded out doubles play with a 8-3 victory at the #3 slot. The #6 singles match was called due to darkness, which gave Mitchell a 7-1 victory.
Mitchell finishes the regular season on Wednesday, April 29th when they travel to Anna Maria College, and then the NECC tournament begins on Saturday, May 2nd.
