Carmona Named MTennis Player of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Kyle Carmona was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for the sport of men's tennis, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Carmona led the Mariners to a pair of 9-0 wins over Albertus Magnus College and NECC rival Wheelock College last week. He went 2-0 at the top singles spot and won both matches in straight sets, defeating the Falcons' Marcus Artais (6-2, 6-2) and the Wildcats' Wilson Chang (6-0, 6-0). In doubles play, Carmona partnered with Rocco Devona to go 2-0 at the No. 1 position.
Carmona earned player of the week honors for the first time this season and the 10th time in his career. The two-time NECC Player of the Year has yet to lose a match in his collegiate career and is 4-0 in both singles and doubles action this season.
Mitchell (6-2 overall, 3-1 NECC) will next host Becker College on Tuesday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m.
