Carmona Takes Final Player of the Week Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the second time this season, Mitchell College junior Kyle Carmona was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for the sport of men's tennis, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Carmona led the Mariners (10-2 overall, 7-1 NECC) to a strong finish to the regular season and a share of the NECC regular season championship. He went undefeated in both singles and doubles play in conference match-ups with Becker College, Wheelock College and Lesley University. Mitchell beat previously undefeated Lesley on the final day of the regular season to earn a piece of the NECC title for the third season in a row.
Carmona also took care of business at the 2011 NECC Men's Tennis Championship this past weekend, winning at the top flights in both singles and doubles play for the third straight season. He finished the week with a total of 10 victories between regular season and championship play.
Carmona earned player of the week honors for the 11th time in his career. The three-time NECC Player of the Year and first team all-conference selection has yet to lose a match in his collegiate career.
