Mitchell Men Win Second Straight Conference Game

 NEW LONDON, CONN. - Junior guard Mike DePaolo (Asbury, N.J.) and sophomore center Jenel Russell (East Hampton, N.Y.) each scored 27 points to lead Mitchell over Newbury College on Tuesday evening.    Mitchell is now 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the NECC, while the loss drops Newbury College to 4-7 on the season.

The Nighthawks were led by Walky Magloire (Waltham, Mass.) with 20 points, and Husain Abdul-Ghaffar (Springfield, Mass.) and Kevin Cleveland (Lynn, Mass.) had 17 points respectively. 

Junior forward Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) contributed with 16 points, seven boards, and five assists to help the Mariners to the 92-82 victory.  Along with his 27 points, Russell also grabbed 12 rebounds and had three blocks. 

Mitchell led by as many as 20 points in the second half.  Newbury cut the lead to nine with three minutes to play, but the visitors were not able to cut the lead.

The Mariners are back in action on Thursday, January 22nd when they host Becker College at 7pm.
