Mariners Fall to Southern Vermont
NEW LONDON, CONN. - The Mitchell men lost on the road to Southern Vermont on Tuesday evening, 69-68. The Mariners got a huge game in the paint from sophomore forward Jenel Russell (East Hampton, N.Y.), as he scored a game-high 30 points and hauled down 15 rebounds.
The Mountaineers were led by Joe Karnik (Castleton, N.Y.) who put up 21 points and grabbed 15 boards in the win. Ben Naaktgeboren (Cambridge, N.Y.) added 16 points and Jaret Falkowitz (Scotia, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points.
Senior guard Josh Witt (New London, Conn.) contributed with 12 points, while post player Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) added 11 points.
The loss drops Mitchell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the NECC. The Mariners are back in action on Thursday, January 15th when they host Western Connecticut State University at 7pm.
