Pride Beat Mitchell at Eastern Connecticut Tip-Off Tournament

 WILLIMANTIC, CONN. - The Mariners lost to Springfield College at the Eastern Connecticut Tip-Off Tournament 84-48.  Sophomore Jenel Russell (East Hampton, N.Y.) led the team with 16 points, while fellow post player, Eric Murray (Bridgeport, Conn.) chipped in 11 points.

The Pride were led by three players in double figures, including Anthony Epps (Norwalk, Conn.) who had 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Ryan Blackmon (Stamford, Conn.) and John Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) scored 14 and 10 points respectively.  Springfield out-rebounded the Mariners 57-40, and their defense forced 25 turnovers in the contest.

Mitchell falls to 0-2 on the season and will play New England College at 1:00pm on Saturday in the consolation game.  Springfield improves to 3-1 and will face Eastern Connecticut in the championship game at 3:00pm.
