Wiley Repeats as NECC Player of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the second straight week, Mitchell College senior Amina Wiley was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Wiley averaged 20.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game last week as the Mariners went 2-0 and remained unbeaten. She finished with 14 points, 10 boards, two assists and two steals in a 76-36 win over Dean College. Mitchell then went on the road to pick up an 88-74 victory at UMass Boston, where the veteran forward shot 11-for-15 from the floor en route to team highs of 26 points and 13 rebounds.
Wiley earned the honor for the sixth time in her career. She's averaging 21.0 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest this season and has led the Mariners to the best start in their Division III history.
Mitchell (3-0 overall) will next play Smith College in the opening round of the Bowdoin Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m.
