Marcano Named NECC Rookie of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Chelsea Marcano was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Marcano netted a season-high 12 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and three steals in a non-conference tilt at Westfield State University last week. She made her first start of the season and shot 5-for-7 from the floor in 33 minutes.
Marcano, a guard, is the first Mitchell player to earn the distinction this season. She has played in all seven games and is averaging 3.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Mitchell (4-3 overall) will next play at the University of Saint Joseph on Tuesday, December 7 at 7 p.m.
