Stevenson Named NECC Player of the Week
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Dede Stevenson was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Stevenson, a guard, earned the honor for the second time this season (Dec. 20). She averaged a team-high 14.5 points per game last week as the Mariners went 1-1 in non-conference action.
Stevenson filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks in a 95-56 victory over Eastern Nazarene College. Earlier in the week she finished with 14 points, seven boards, three assists and four steals in a loss to Trinity College. Over the two games she shot 42 percent from the floor and went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc.
In 14 games this season Stevenson is averaging 10.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest. She leads the Mariners in three-point field goals (24), three-point field goal percentage (.312) and minutes played (430).
Mitchell (7-7 overall) will next play at Fisher College on Thursday, January 20 at 7 p.m.
