Pride Top Women’s Basketball in Road Showdown
WESTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's basketball team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) road showdown at Regis College on Wednesday evening, falling 79–61 at Higgins Court.
Mitchell was led offensively by junior Inonda Peterson (Houston, Texas), who posted a team-high 14 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Fellow sophomore Jade Hypolite (Houston, Texas) added 13 points, while senior Jamya Beddoe (New London, Conn.) chipped in 11 points, three assists, and two steals. Off the bench, sophomore Luisa Delgado (Bridgeport, Conn.) provided a spark with nine points on 3-for-6 shooting, including two three-pointers.
Regis built its advantage with strong second and third quarters, outscoring the Mariners 36–21 across the middle two periods. The Pride shot 35.4 percent from the field and held a 52–44 rebounding edge, including 18 offensive boards.
Mitchell shot 30.8 percent (20-for-65) from the floor and 21.7 percent (5-for-23) from three-point range, but remained competitive at the free-throw line, converting 16-of-22 (72.7%) attempts. The Mariners were paced on the glass by Peterson (11 rebounds) and sophomore Jordyn Streitmatter (Brewster, Mass.), who pulled down eight rebounds while logging all 40 minutes.
Defensively, Mitchell recorded four steals and three blocks, with Beddoe and Hypolite accounting for two steals apiece and Streitmatter contributing two blocks.
Regis was led by Madi Zancan, who finished with a dominant 27-point, 20-rebound performance, while Erika Marinelli added 16 points.
The Mariners (2-13, 0-6 GNAC) return to action on Saturday, January 31, at Colby-Sawyer College with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m.
